Creating the Curriculum:
The Maritime Industries Academy Advisory Board (MIAB) and the nonprofit Maritime Industries Academy Foundation (MIAF), established to support the school,
are working with industry experts to develop a maritime-oriented curriculum for 9th - 12th grade. Importantly, the curriculum being developed will conform with federal, state, local and, significantly, International Maritime Organization guidelines. The curriculum will not only support Maryland's Maritime Industries Academy High School but will be made available at no cost to any school wishing to incorporate a maritime track into its current academic program.
The curriculum will include core academic subjects (English, history, math and science) as well as elective maritime courses. It will also incorporate the values of conduct and discipline that are emphasized at maritime academies and valued by the business sector.
